The daily limit and monthly limit both apply
The free plan does not provide a fresh 300,000 tokens for every day of a thirty-day month. You can use at most 300,000 on one day and at most 1 million across the month. Three heavy sessions can consume most of the monthly pool even though the daily limit resets.
Hosting, databases and both public and private projects are included at the free entry point. The visible tradeoffs are Bolt branding, smaller uploads and lower request capacity, alongside the AI token ceiling.
Why a short prompt can still use many tokens
Bolt says most token use comes from synchronising the project's file system to the model. As the project grows, the agent has more context to read before it can safely change anything. A five-word request in a mature app can therefore cost more than a detailed request in a new one.
Keep work bounded. Finish one route or feature before opening another, remove abandoned experiments and ask for a plan before a risky cross-project change. Token discipline is mostly project discipline.
What the $25 Pro plan changes
Pro removes the daily token cap and starts with 10 million monthly tokens. It also removes site branding, raises upload and request limits, supports private sharing and custom domains, and expands database options.
Paid subscription tokens can roll over for one additional month, but only while the paid subscription stays active. Rollover reduces end-of-month waste; it does not turn the balance into a permanent asset.
Free Bolt is for proving a build loop
Use the free allowance on a representative application, not a toy landing page. Test a database write, one deployment, a mobile state and a correction that touches existing code. That tells you how Bolt behaves once the first generation is over.
If you already have an approved reference page and only need an editable implementation, a fixed website-copying job can be easier to price. Bolt earns its subscription when the product logic and continuing agent work matter.
